4 Days Migration Safari—Explore the great wildebeest migration during the calving season with Ernest Magic Tours. Estimates are that 1000 wildebeest are born a day! While lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and wild dogs certainly eat their fill of these gangly baby gnus, the synchronized calving is an effective survival mechanism for the species, but there is simply too much food for the predators to consume. This Tanzanian safari will be unforgettable.
This Tanzania safari can start in JRO or Arusha.

We’ll get an early start this morning to begin our wildebeest calving safari, driving west through the world-renowned Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stopping to take a peek at the volcanic caldera of Ngorongoro Crater along the way. After about five or six hours on the road, we’ll reach the Ndutu region, which lies at the southern tip of the Serengeti. Ndutu is known for lush green plains dotted with flat-topped acacia trees, shallow alkaline lakes where flamingos and other birds gather in great numbers, and—of course—thousands of newborn wildebeest. We’ll keep our eyes peeled as we travel through the bush on our way to tonight’s camp, getting our first glimpse of the many young antelope hidden amongst the herds.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, the morning will kick off with a thrilling game drive in the Ndutu area. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the rich wildlife and stunning landscapes. A half-day game drive will be followed by a picnic lunch amidst the wilderness. Later, we will divert our route towards the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The drive to the rim spans 75 km and is estimated to take approximately 2.5 hours, offering mild game sightings along the way. The Ngorongoro Crater is a remarkable geological wonder and a true haven of untamed wilderness. As the day draws to a close, you’ll savor a satisfying dinner and retire to your comfortable accommodation for a well-deserved rest.

After breakfast, we descend back into the crater for an early morning game drive, hoping the cool morning air allows for us to see some active wildlife. As the temperatures rise, we may head to the hippo pool to see these spectacular creatures enjoying a dip to beat the heat. As lunch approaches, we make our way to the picnic site on the lake, taking in the spectacular views and having a bite to eat before you head out on the final game drive. After our last glimpse of the park, we head towards the crater rim to make the journey back to Arusha for the evening.
